It’s the first of November! I hope you survived Halloween last night and didn’t eat too much candy. My neighbors around the corner bragged that they had 800 children at their house for trick or treat! They said they were prepared for 750 with individual bags prepared. I stayed in and watched movies.
In some pagan cultures Samhain marks the end of the harvest and the beginning of winter on October 31-November 1. Here it is the celebration of Halloween. The Day of the Dead celebration, which covers more than one day, is celebrated around the same time. I read that October 27 was the beginning of the weeklong celebration and it was the night that your pets returned to you. I liked that idea but never did see my little beagle. She was probably busy running through fields chasing butterflies.
But in Oklahoma, this week has finally shown us some fall temperatures. I love the cool weather. My family will celebrate a wedding later this month, then Thanksgiving, followed by Christmas! It is amazing how fast life rushes by if you don’t pay attention.
But I hope your Halloween, Samhain, or Day of the Dead celebrations were eventful, and you aren’t sick from eating too much. The holidays can do that to you.
What are you doing, writing, reading, or creating this week?
