The Enid Writers Club had a workshop yesterday and it was greatly enjoyed by all who attended. We reconnected with old friends and made new ones. We learned a lot as the experts helped us see how they write and sell their books. We ate lunch together and bought books to take home and read.
I’ve been talking about this upcoming workshop for the last few weeks and yesterday we did it. Jennifer McMurrain (Raven Lee) talked about writing cozy horror vs gory horror, using the senses to scare the reader instead of blood. Marcia Preston talked about the different ways to write mysteries, and Mariana Llanos discussed writing and publishing children’s literature. There were tons of information being bounced around the room and we all enjoyed the time together and the knowledge being shared.
We had a small group but many of us knew each other and if we didn’t, it was a good opportunity to not only meet new people but enjoy the company of old friends. Literature always brings people together.
I can’t wait to do it again and of course I brought home new books to read from these authors. I gathered information and will enjoy a great story. How can you lose with a combination like that?
What are you doing, writing, reading, or creating this week?
